Answers to the questions we hear most about buying, shipping, selling and the community.

Buying

Is every item one of a kind?: Almost always. Motor City Memories is the only seller here, and most pieces are single finds, so once an item sells it leaves the shop.
How does the 15-minute hold work?: Adding an item to your cart places a 15-minute hold so nobody else can buy it while you check out. If the timer runs out the item returns to the shop and your cart tells you what changed.
How do I pay?: Checkout takes card payment. You will see the item total, shipping and tax before you confirm.

How is shipping priced?: Shipping is calculated from the size and weight of the piece and shown at checkout before you pay. Large or fragile items may be marked oversized and handled with extra care.
Can I pick up in person?: When an item offers local pickup you can choose it at checkout. Pickup details and instructions appear on your order page once the order is confirmed.
How do I track my order?: Open My Account, then Orders & Purchases. Tracking appears there as soon as the parcel is on its way.

What can I bring to you?: Single items, whole collections, estate sales, property cleanouts and collection consultations across Detroit and the surrounding suburbs.
How do I start?: Use the Work With Us form, tell us how we can help, add a few photos, and we will follow up using the contact method you prefer.
Where can I see my request again?: If you were signed in when you sent it, it appears under My Account, in Sell & Work Requests, with its current status.

What can I post?: Share finds, ask What Is This? for help identifying a piece, comment, react and follow other members. Keep it respectful and on topic; posts and comments can be hidden or removed if reported.
Can members sell to each other?: No. The community is for sharing and identifying. Motor City Memories is the only seller on the site.
How do private messages work?: Message any member from their profile. Photos you send stay private to that conversation, and you can block a member at any time.
